No horse ownership required! Riders compete on horses provided by the host barn.
Four ability levels offered: Beginner, Novice, Intermediate, and Open—there’s a place for everyone.
Grade-based teams:Grades 4–8 compete on Middle School TeamsGrades 9–12 compete on High School Teams
Earn points and qualify for finals! Riders and teams compete for individual and team points, with opportunities to advance to Regional, Zone, and National Finals.
Season timeline: The IEA show season runs August 1st through late spring/early summer, ending at the National Finals.
Equalized competition: Riders draw a horse at random, use the tack provided, and receive limited schooling—true tests of horsemanship and adaptability.
Show opportunities: Each student can compete in up to five horse shows per season to earn qualifying points. (Point system: 1st = 7pts, 2nd = 5pts, 3rd = 4pts, 4th = 3pts, 5th = 2pts, 6th = 1pt.)Please note: If you sign up for a show and cannot attend, there is no way to make up the points.
